One request, matched to the actual job

A pre-purchase inspection is not the same assignment as a tonnage measurement or commercial-code survey. We keep the scope clear from the beginning.

How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Plan the survey around island access and available marine facilities

Most established marine support is concentrated around Mahé, while other islands require separate transfers and may have limited haul-out capability. Confirm the exact island, berth or anchorage and whether the assignment is private or requires a licensed or SMSA-authorised route.

Mahé, Victoria & Eden Island

Port Victoria · Eden Island · Providence · Mahé marinas and yards

The principal transport and marine-service centre. Confirm the exact facility, security, contractor permission, haul-out booking and sea-trial plan.

Praslin

Baie Sainte Anne · Anse Volbert · Praslin moorings

A separate island attendance requiring ferry or flight planning. Confirm safe boarding and whether the yacht must move to Mahé for a complete ashore inspection.

La Digue & inner islands

La Digue · Silhouette · North Island · nearby inner islands

Access may be by tender, ferry or charter boat. Agree transfer, accommodation, weather and the practical inspection scope before appointment.

Outer islands

Amirantes · Alphonse · Farquhar · Aldabra region

Remote work needs project-specific transport, permissions, safety planning and weather allowance. Haul-out or specialist support should never be assumed.

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What information is needed for a Seychelles marine survey quote?

Provide the exact island, marina, berth, anchorage or yard, vessel particulars, construction, purpose and preferred date. Include transfer, tender access, haul-out, sea trial and any insurer, lender, licensing or SMSA requirement.

Can a surveyor attend Praslin, La Digue or an outer island?

Potentially, subject to availability, transport, safe access and the required facilities. Ferry, flight or charter transfer, accommodation and weather contingency must be agreed for the actual island.

Does a Seychelles marine-surveyor licence guarantee flag acceptance?

No. Seychelles licenses marine and cargo surveyors, while SMSA manages vessel registration, inspection and statutory certification. The required authority still depends on the exact vessel, document and assignment.

What if the island has no suitable haul-out facility?

Agree whether the scope will be afloat-only, whether a diver or specialist test is appropriate, or whether the yacht must move to Mahé or another suitable facility.

Are island transfers, haul-out and sea trial included?

Only when stated in writing. Flights, ferries or charter boats, accommodation, taxis, yard fees, lift, wash, relaunch, skipper, fuel and specialist testing can be separate.

Who appoints the marine surveyor?

The client appoints the independent surveyor and agrees scope, fee, timing, limitations and terms directly. Seychelles Marine Survey provides information and introductions only.

Can you help with other specialist marine survey assignments?

Potential assignments include inter-island delivery & passage surveys, storm, grounding & damage surveys, rig & mast inspections, machinery diagnostics & oil analysis, moisture, ultrasound & corrosion, charter-yacht condition surveys, refit & repair inspections, seychelles licensing & statutory work. Availability depends on the location, vessel and required specialist capability or formal appointment.
